Boorloo-born and based DJ, broadcaster and community organiser Tash Thomas is one of the city’s go-to selectors and tastemakers for 21st century jazz and jazz-adjacent sounds.

A champion of many styles, Tash discovered a deep love for contemporary jazz while living in London (2014-2020), where she worked as a publicist for emerging and established jazz artists & high-profile festivals across the UK and Europe.

She has worked with the likes of Shabaka Hutchings, Nubya Garcia, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Tony Allen, Love Supreme Jazz Festival (UK), Cheltenham Jazz Festival (UK), and North Sea Jazz Festival (NL).

Since moving back to Boorloo/Perth in 2020, she has built a reputation as an in-demand music curator with her eclectic DJ sets (under the alias cash promise), mixes and radio shows taking listeners in many directions— from spiritual jazz, ambient and electronic excursions, to polyrhythmic beats, West African grooves, Brazilian and house — that foster deep-listening experiences and leftfield dancefloor moments.

She has recently played support sets for international and interstate headliners such as Sam Ruffillo and Gee Lane (TOY TONICS -BER), Setwun (SYD), Tina Edwards (UK), and at Perth Festival (The Joy, Bad Whip).

Tash also organises jade//vision; a Boorloo collective platforming music that delivers on the promise of what jazz can be, developing community through collaborative live events, music curation, and records.

She is currently the Development & Audience Engagement Manager at RTRFM and a regular presenter on RTRFMs Giant Steps show.
