Tone List is a Boorloo-based label and producing platform for experimental and exploratory music, initiated in 2016. We release music by Western Australian artists and those from elsewhere who are closely affiliated with our scene. We also host concerts coinciding with artist record launches, as well as producing concert series’ TuneNoiseTune (with Perth Jazz Society), Sun Returns (with WA Museum Boola Bardip), Kinds of Light (with PS Art Space) and intermittent collaborations with other arts organisations. Our flagship annual event is the Audible Edge Festival of Sound, an international festival of exploratory music.

Tone List is committed to nurturing present and future generations of experimental sound practitioners in Western Australia through creating and supporting community, platforms, international networks and resources. We have been described as “the go-to organisation for experimental music in Perth”; our contributions to Western Australian experimental music and sound art have been acknowledged by Seesaw Magazine, Limelight Magazine, the Australian Music Centre, ABC Classic FM and the WAM Awards. We were awarded an Art Music Award (State Luminary category) in 2023.

Tone List is volunteer-run, but has procured funding support for our projects from the Western Australian government and Australian federal government, the City of Perth, the Australian Cultural Fund, Tura New Music, and Carl Erbrich.
